Former Challinors partner recruited by Sydney Mitchell

SYDNEY Mitchell has strengthened its dispute resolution team with the appointment of former Challinors partner, Raj Bains.

Bains, a qualified solicitor with over 10 years’ experience, specialises in Commercial Litigation.  He has dealt with a wide variety of cases ranging from commercial property disputes to multi-million pound commercial contract claims in a number of County and High Courts and in the Court of Appeal.

He regularly advises clients in a number of commercial sectors and has experience of dealing with Professional Negligence claims, Landlord and Tenant disputes, Commercial Contract disputes, Defamation proceedings, Intellectual Property disputes; Debt Recovery claims; Insolvency proceedings and Partnership disputes.

The Dispute Resolution team at Sydney Mitchell is led by Kam Majevadia and Dean Parnell.

Social housing boost for Anthony Collins

Ranjit Bassey, partner - social housing, Anthony CollinsANTHONY Collins Solicitors has boosted its social housing team with the promotion of Ranjit Bassey to partner.

Bassey, left, who joined the firm from Shoosmiths in February 2013, is a real estate and commercial property lawyer specialising in social housing development and regeneration schemes. He has acted for a number of high profile housing associations whilst at the firm.  

He recently advised on a £42m deal for Walsall Housing Group on the regeneration of five sites, providing over 180 open market units and 150 affordable housing units in partnership with Kier Partnership Homes.

New face at Worcester’s oldest law firm

Shelley Bonney, HallmarkHulmeTHE commercial department of Worcester’s oldest law firm, HallmarkHulme, has welcomed a new solicitor.

Shelley Bonney, left,  will work alongside Tom Bartley-Smith, who is head of commercial law at the 223-year-old practice.

Miss Bonney will be focusing on transactional work for a wide range of clients, which includes setting up businesses, liaising with lenders and agents, franchise agreements and disposal of shares and assets.

“I’m looking forward to working with existing clients and bringing new business to a practice with a proud history and an excellent reputation,” she said.

Bartley-Smith added: “I’m delighted to have Shelley on board as she brings considerable expertise to the department.”
