New micropub set for Lichfield following leasing deal

A FORMER shop unit in Lichfield has undergone extensive refurbishment to open as a new micropub – a move which reinforces the increasing popularity of the city, commercial property agents have said.

The former Country Styles interiors shop in Tamworth Street will re-open as The Whippet Inn in mid April.

The change of use was agreed following an application to Lichfield District Council and the unit was let by agent Burley Browne.

Ben Nicholson, agency surveyor at Burley Browne said: “We are really excited about concluding this letting and hope that this new concept proves to be extremely popular, particularly as it offers an alternative for the real ale drinkers of Lichfield.”

David Hemming, director of the agency, added: “The transaction is further evidence of the continuing popularity in the city for new entrants and reflects early signs of growing confidence in the market.”

Situated in a busy thoroughfare in one of the city’s main commercial areas, the agents said there were high hopes the new pub would prove a popular addition to Lichfield’s food and drink offering.

Kingston CPC acted as Burley Browne’s joint agents in the leasing.

Burley Browne serves the areas of North Birmingham and Staffordshire including Sutton Coldfield, Lichfield, Tamworth and Walsall.
