Browne Jacobson advises Dalet on AmberFin acquisition

LAWYERS from Browne Jacobson in Birmingham have advised French company Dalet Digital Media Systems on its acquisition of British TV broadcast software provider AmberFin.

No financial details have been disclosed.

Dalet – whose UK operation is based in London – is a provider of media asset management (MAM) solutions, software and services for broadcasters and content providers. Clients include the BBC, Canal+, FOX, Warner Bros. and Time Warner Cable.

Basingstoke-based AmberFin was established in 2008 and specialises in providing video ingest, complex media manipulation, transcoding and quality control solutions (QC) for broadcasters, sports organisations, post-production houses and other media content owners.

Its clients include Sony, NBA, Turner Broadcasting, BT, Channel 4, RTM and Warner Brothers.

The Browne Jacobson team was led by corporate partner Richard Cox, assisted by Vicky Gaskell (corporate); Beth Dowson (tax); Dominique Tai (corporate), Mark Lewis (property) and Birmingham-based duo Ryan Harrison (intellectual property) and Mark Daniels (intellectual property).

Cox said: “This is a key strategic acquisition for our client and will significantly enhance its talent pool, product portfolio and client base.

“The deal reflects the continued interest of overseas buyers and investors in strong, niche UK based companies such as AmberFin.”
