Law firm HCB acquires controlling stake in Stratford accountants

SOLIHULL-based law firm, The HCB Group, has acquired a controlling share in Warwickshire accountants, Hatch Accountancy to enhance its professional service offering.

HCB, which has offices throughout the Midlands plus the North West and London, has taken a 51% stake in the accountancy firm with the intention of offering a one-stop-shop for all financial and legal matters.

Hatch, a chartered accountancy based in Stratford-upon-Avon, specialises in corporate finance and operates on the same basis as HCB by providing a spread of partners and associates.

The firm provides management services, tax planning, business strategy and development, planning and budgeting and following a re-branding two years ago has doubled in size to become the fastest growing company in the Stratford area.

The new practice will be known as HCB Hatch Chartered Accountants and Mike Gahan, chief executive at HCB, said: “Joining forces with Hatch seemed an appropriate move for HCB.

“At the core of both firms is a belief that customer service is paramount and so many legal matters are wrapped up with financial affairs that it makes sense to bring together two companies operating with experts in those fields.

“Our clients can now receive the financial and legal advice they need under one umbrella instead of having to deal with two separate sources.”

Nick Warden, senior partner at Hatch, said: “We operate with many more professionally qualified, experienced people than the average practice and that means that our clients get to talk to the people who will be dealing with their affairs.

“HCB has a similar structure which means that the main contact is qualified and is the person who does the work.

“It makes sense for two firms of a comparable culture to work together to offer clients a wide range of skills covering two interwoven professional sectors.”
