Professional firms to be ranked on their CSR activity

A NEW league table will rank the top 50 companies from Birmingham’s professional services sector by their level of social impact.

A six-month campaign to find the top 50 was officially launched at the Annual Birmingham CSR Summit to an audience of more than 80 of the region’s heads of CSR and chief executives.

It has been launched by social impact consultancy Cultiv8 Solutions.

The Cultiv8 SV50 League Table will showcase the companies who have created the most social impact through their corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities and the financial amounts that their social impact has contributed to the overall net worth of their business.

All entrants on the Cultiv8 SV50 will be given a social earning ratio (SER), a measurement score that converts a company’s social impact into financial figures, measures social impact as a percentage of a company’s overall net worth and which can be used to benchmark a company against local, national and international competitors.

Joel Blake, founder & CEO of Cultiv8 Solutions, said: “The professional services sector contributes over £3bn pounds a year to the local economy of Birmingham.

“By articulating what social impact means to their business, in hard financial numbers, I believe that companies in this sector will feel more confident about their investments in helping to meet the wide range of social needs in our city.”

Blake, who founded the Annual Birmingham CSR Summit and was also a category winner of BYPY 2010 for his work in CSR, added: “The SV50 will shine a positive light on companies who genuinely care about the needs of our communities, and at the same time, demonstrate the business case within local boardrooms, for making social impact a strategic imperative for business growth.”
