Parcels firm APC creates 140 new jobs at new distribution hub

LOGISTICS group APC Overnight has announced it is creating 140 new full-time jobs to support the opening of its new £15m national distribution hub in Cannock.

APC, the UK’s largest independent courier company, said the new posts were expected to be in place by the end of September.

The firm said the new roles, which include warehouse operatives and forklift truck drivers, followed on from consistent month on month growth of around 20% and were part of a number of strategic investments planned for the facility ahead of this year’s Christmas peak.

Since opening the 138,000 sq ft hub at the Kingswood Lakeside site last June, the company has created more than 200 jobs and has seen turnover increase to over £88m; up more than 17%.

The company, which had relocated from nearby Saredon, is now one of Cannock’s largest employers, with a workforce in excess of 430 people.

Brett Kidson, human resources manager at APC Overnight, who first joined the company in 2001 as a warehouse operative, said: “All of the positions we are currently recruiting for are permanent. We’re looking for people that are interested in working with a growing company and staying with us for the long-term. As well as a basic salary we also run a performance related bonus scheme, so there are plenty of opportunities for people who want to work hard.

“And with 100% of our junior managerial roles being recruited from within the business, there is room for progression for ambitious candidates.”
