Flybe adds Berlin Tegel to its list of routes from Birmingham

AIRLINE Flybe has announced it will be flying to Berlin Tegel from Birmingham Airport as part of its 2014-2015 Winter schedule.

The new route to the German capital’s main international airport will operate five-times a week from October 26.

Paul Simmons, Flybe’s chief commercial officer, said: “Our commitment to connectivity, both for business and leisure passengers across the UK regions and Europe, continues.

“Today’s announcement of this brand new route clearly demonstrates our ambitions and hunger to deliver a network that meets the needs of our customers.

“We are particularly excited to be flying direct from Birmingham to Berlin Tegel, the German capital’s most convenient airport that’s only eight kilometres from the heart of the city’s downtown business district.

“It is a new destination for Flybe and we know that it’s an important one for both business and leisure travellers. It’s not only a main transport hub but also the commercial centre for a wide range of industrial sectors including, amongst others, world-leading companies in high tech and engineering.”

Paul Kehoe, CEO at Birmingham Airport, said: “We’re delighted with the news that Flybe’s brand new Berlin Tegel route will be operating from Birmingham five times a week from late October onwards.

“This expansion to their route network further strengthens the airline’s commitment to the West Midlands and will undoubtedly prove to be a popular addition to their destination portfolio for holidaymakers and business travellers alike.”

The airline – Birmingham Airport’s largest operator in passenger number terms – has already added Hamburg and Oslo to its 2014-2015 Winter schedule from Birmingham, which also features six new summer routes, extending through winter, namely those to Reykjavik, Cologne, Toulouse, Bordeaux, Florence and Oporto.
