Safetyflex sells its security barriers into US for first time

COVENTRY security bollard manufacturer Safetyflex has taken a major stride into breaking the US market – landing an order for a six-figure sum.

The firm’s first order from across the Atlantic will see its anti-terrorist barriers and bollards securing high profile infrastructure and sites across the US.

The major order comes on the back of Safetyflex Barriers – part of the GME Springs group – gaining a patent from the United States Patent and Trademark Office earlier this year.

The patent protects the firm’s spring-steel technology behind its security products – which have been protecting high-security sites across the UK for ten years.

Marcus Gerrard, director at Safetyflex Barriers, said “We’re very pleased to see our anti-terrorist security products now making waves in the US.

“The market is very tough to crack as the US will only take the most up to date technology, which I am pleased to say we can offer.

“Winning this work is in line with our growth plans following our success earning the patent.

Since being named the UK’s most innovative company at the National Business Awards in November, Safetyflex has also won new business in Singapore and the Middle East.

The firm has also just launched a new anti-terrorist anti-ram crash fence which has been specially designed to secure major oil and gas refineries.
