Birmingham businesses offer support to food fair

FOOD lovers are expected to descend on Millennium Point this weekend as the venue stages the Birmingham Independent Food Fair.

Organised by local food guide, Dine Birmingham, and supported by Visit Birmingham, the food fair provides a platform for independent businesses and start-up companies to showcase their work.

Over 40 independent producers and street food traders will be spread throughout Millennium Point and Eastside Park, offering visitors food to try and buy.

Well-known venues such as Thai Edge, Le Truc Cafe and Aalto at Hotel La Tour will be serving up samples of cuisine. A pop-up will also be operated by sponsor Don Diego Bar de Tapas, using specially-sourced ingredients to create authentic Spanish paella, tapas and churros.

Other supporters include sponsors VoteHere – a consumer feedback and online polling start-up, Clarity Comms – a new social media agency, Coversure Insurance Services and Food Cycle – a charity fighting food waste through free meals and partner of the fair.

“We’re delighted to be supporting the Independent Food Fair and giving local start-ups the opportunity to showcase their goods to the general public,” said Neil Anderson, director of marketing, communications and events at Millennium Point.

“Birmingham’s food scene has a great vibe and the fair will be an ideal time for businesses within the community to reach a new and wider audience.”

Ahmed Ahmed, organiser of the fair and creator of Dine Birmingham, added: “Millennium Point is the ideal venue so we can reach a larger audience and host a more professional fair.

“We want to attract a range of people to the city and we know Millennium Point has a lot to offer to businesses and visitors alike.”
