St Modwen gets nod on Notts residential scheme

DEVELOPER St Modwen has revealed that Gedling Borough Council has resolved to grant planning permission for a residential development on a former British Coal site in Bestwood Village, Nottinghamshire.

Located within Bestwood Village and adjoining Bestwood Country Park, the 15 acre site will deliver up to 220 dwellings, including detached, semi-detached and terrace properties, some of which will be affordable.

The development will also comprise public open space and landscaping, as well
as a footpath link to Bestwood Country Park and also the National Cycle Route, which runs adjacent to the site.

St Modwen carried out extensive community engagement before submitting its planning application, including holding a public consultation, attending a public meeting organised by Bestwood St Albans Parish Council, and meeting a number of local interest groups.

Richard Hickman, planning manager at St Modwen, said: “Gedling Borough Council’s decision marks a significant step forward in our plans for this brownfield site in Bestwood.

“The proposed redevelopment will create an attractive residential community with direct pedestrian and cycle links to the adjoining country park.”
