Green light for overhaul of Coventry’s Skydome

A £2m facelift for Coventry leisure development Skydome has been given the go-ahead by the city council..

Investment group Mansford acquired the Skydome complex in 2011 when it was around 40% vacant and has since attracted a number of new occupiers to the development including Harvester, Gentings, Pure Gym and, more recently, Carters Bar & Grill.

The company submitted an application to improve the scheme both internally and externally including new canopies, walkways and an improved atrium.

The application has been approved by the Coventry City Council and work will now start in October and is expected to be complete by December.

Phil Morris, of E J Hales – the commercial property agents acting on the scheme – said: “This is great news and this will be a boost for the Skydome and the city centre as a whole.

“The Skydome is a major leisure complex for Coventry. That has been the case for many years but there was no doubt that investment was required to bring the development up to date.

“Since Mansford bought the complex in 2011 that work has been on-going and this latest planning approval means they can put into place their final plans for the Skydome.

“The investment already has helped to attract some major operators to Skydome to improve the offer there and this further work will mean visitors have an even better experience.”
