Isis Equity Partners confirms name-change to avoid terrorist connections

PRIVATE Equity house Isis Equity Partners is changing its name to distance itself from any association with the terrorist organisation sweeping Syria and parts of Iraq.

Managing partner Wol Kolade said the firm was no longer prepared to share its name with terrorist organisation Islamic State of Iraq and Syria – widely known as Isis – which has recently been condemned after releasing a series of videos showing the execution of Western hostages.

Kolade said: “Given ongoing events in Syria and Iraq, it will come as no surprise to you to learn that we have decided to change our name. We are no longer prepared to share it with a terrorist organisation.”

The firm, which has an office in Bank House in Birmingham, said it would be in a position to unveil its new brand in the coming weeks.

Partners in the West Midlands had hinted a name change could be on the cards earlier this summer.

Kolade was keen to stress it was still business as usual.

“Even though the name above the door will change, we remain focused and committed to invest in and support high growth UK companies run by entrepreneurial management teams,” he added.

Isis Equity Partners currently has funds under management worth £1.3bn.

The firm focuses on UK-based businesses valued at £5m to £100m.
