Work to begin on £1.9m bus and rail interchange at Cradley Heath

WORK is set to begin on a new £1.9m bus and rail interchange at Cradley Heath.

The work is being paid for through the Better Bus Area Fund, a £10m pot to improve public transport in Brierley Hill, Merry Hill and Cradley Heath.

The site, in Forge Lane, will close for work to begin. It is scheduled for completion in the New Year.

Cradley’s new interchange will consist of six bus stands, four within the main building and two on a newly-constructed island stand.

Funding is made up of contributions from the Department for Transport, bus operators, Sandwell Council and Dudley Council and Centro, the public transport co-ordinator for the West Midlands.

Cllr John McNicholas, the chairman of Centro, said: “This is an exciting development for public transport in Cradley Heath.”
