St Modwen in for planning on 60,000 sq ft unit for DPD in Stoke

STOKE-on-Trent Regeneration, the joint venture formed by developer St Modwen and Stoke City Council, has submitted a planning application for a 60,000 sq ft parcel distribution facility at its Etruria Valley development.

The new facility is to be occupied by parcel delivery firm DPD as part of a nationwide acquisition programme of new depots.

The proposed facility, incorporating office and warehouse space, will replace DPD’s existing facility in Stoke.

As a result over 100 jobs in the region will be safeguarded and a further 92 created.

Euan Lindsay, senior development manager at Birmingham-based St Modwen, said: “The proposed facility for DPD at Etruria Valley is one of a number that St Modwen is to develop for the company across the UK, including a similar-sized facility in Exeter which gained planning permission in July this year.

“It is very pleasing that we have secured further investment in Stoke-on-Trent and North Staffordshire and I am delighted that Etruria Valley has attracted another major high profile occupier.”

It is expected that, if the planning application is approved, the facility will be operational by Autumn 2015.

Etruria Valley is part of Festival Park, a mixed use business park, retail, leisure and entertainment development.
