Cadbury fan is made president of parent’s Northern Europe operations

CADBURY owner, Mondelēz International, has confirmed the appointment of a new head of its Northern European operations.

Mary Barnard is the first ever President, Northern Europe and the newly created role will see her assume responsibility for Mondelēz International’s businesses in the UK, Ireland, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark.

Ms Barnard joined Mondelēz International in March 2014 as Managing Director, Nordics from PepsiCo International, where she held the position of Senior Vice President and General Manager Global Pepsi-Lipton Partnership, based in the US, with responsibility for the tea joint venture between the beverage company and Unilever.

She started her career in the UK at Rank Hovis McDougall in 1989 and joined PepsiCo in 1997, rising to Marketing Director of Walkers Crisps. In 2003 she was appointed Business Unit Director Tesco and then General Manager Quaker and Tropicana.
 
Hubert Weber, President of Mondelez Europe, said: “Mary’s strong track record and experience of working with power brands make her a perfect fit for this newly created role. Responsible for some of the largest markets in our European business, she will be instrumental in driving growth across our brands including Cadbury, Oreo and belVita.”
 
Ms Barnard said: “I am delighted to be taking on this role at a pivotal moment for our business. I have enjoyed my first few months in the Nordics and am looking forward to taking on this new role and broader remit. As a life-long Cadbury fan, I’m particularly thrilled to be looking after this iconic brand.”
