Plumbing and heating supplier Tesla brings production back to UK

A PLUMBING and Heating company has moved to new premises, having secured funding from Barclays, which has enabled it to move production back to the UK from Pakistan.

Tesla UK supplies plumbing and heating components to major distributors in the UK and overseas.

The company has recently moved into new premises providing it with 40,000 sq ft of warehousing, an area that is double the size of its former premises.

The additional space has allowed the business to bring the manufacturing of its cooker hose – its primary product – back to the UK, creating four new positions.

Tesla UK is a family owned business which was set up in 2008 by John Hardcastle.

In 2011 and 2012, the company acquired two competitors businesses which resulted in further accelerated growth. Today Tesla UK employs 25 people and is anticipating a £12m group turnover this year.

Hardcastle said: “Since the company began we have enjoyed a fast period of growth which resulted in us having to move into bigger premises to accommodate the stock and increased workforce. This also allowed me to move production back from Pakistan to the UK and create jobs locally here in Birmingham.”

Lee Clarke, relationship director at Barclays Corporate in the Midlands, said: “John was keen to complete on the purchase in a short space of time and I was pleased that we were able to execute this deal at pace and ensure he secured the premises he wanted.

“The additional space will enable the business to build on what has been a tremendous period of growth and stand them in good stead for the future.”
