Poundland beefs up its executive team with NED appointments

BLACK Country discount retailer Poundland Group has brought in two new non-executive directors (NEDs) including the group finance director of West Midlands pubco Mitchells & Butlers.

The Willenhall firm – Europe’s biggest single price discount retailer – has brought in Miles Roberts as a NED and senior independent director.

He will also be a member of the audit, remuneration and nominations committees. 

Roberts is currently group chief executive of London-based plc DS Smith, an international supplier of recycled packaging. Prior to that he was CEO of McBride Plc, a provider of private label household and personal care products.

Meanwhile, Tim Jones joins Poundland as an independent NED and will also serve as chairman of the audit and risk committee.

He is a chartered accountant and currently group finance director of Mitchells & Butlers.  Previous positions include group finance director of Interserve, a FTSE 250 listed support services group, and other senior finance roles both in the UK and overseas.
