Hardtop manufacturer celebrates large order from the MoD

BRIERLEY Hill-based Auto Styling Truckman, the supplier of 4×4 accessories, has secured an order from a major Ford dealer to supply the Ministry of Defence (MOD) with more than a hundred Truckman hardtops for its pick-up truck fleet.

The company has provided the Armed Forces with 104 Classic High Roof hardtops for its fleet of Ford Ranger Double Cab pick-up trucks.

No monetary value for the deal has been disclosed.

The fleet vehicles are deployed at military bases across the UK and used for a wide range of tasks. Adding Auto Styling Truckman’s hardtops increases the flexibility and security of the vehicles

Mike Wheeler, managing director of the firm, said: “We are very proud to be part of the MOD’s UK supply chain.

“It is great to know that our products meet the exacting standards of the British military and I believe this is a strong endorsement of our commitment to developing UK manufacturing skills.”

Auto Styling Truckman recently announced a 36% increase in turnover.

The firm reported sales of £9.5m for its latest financial year, which ended in August.

Following the completion of its new production facility in 2013, which expanded its manufacturing operation by 15,000 sq ft and delivered a 70% increase in its stock capacity, the firm has also increased the size of its workforce.

Having originally aimed to increase its workforce from 39 to 50 by the end of its financial year, the company actually upped its headcount to 54.
