NEC’s Timber Expo event sets new attendance record

A TRADE exhibition staged at Birmingham’s NEC has broken its four-year attendance record.

Organisers of Timber Expo said the 2014 exhibition was the most successful in the event’s history, attracting more than 6,000 visitors, with exhibitors spread across 30 different countries.

Loretta Sales, Event Director, said: “Timber Expo has grown year on year and this represents a 30% increase on the 2013 visitor numbers. There was a real buzz around the event which is now a truly international affair, with visitors travelling as far afield as Qatar, China, Ghana, Russia, Kuwait, India, Malaysia, Canada and New Zealand.

“This is not purely a numbers game however, and attracting the right sort of visitors is crucial, so we are delighted to report an increase in architects, engineers, specifiers and contractors – many with live projects.”

In a boost both to the NEC and the event organisers, 60% of the exhibitors at this year’s show have booked up for the 2015 event; which next year takes place October 6-7.

Timber Expo is the UK’s national timber industry trade show. It showcases the best in timber innovations and demonstrates the technological advancements within the industry.

It also provides a forum for new business and a demonstration of how timber can be used as an innovative and sustainable construction material.
