Holzherr named One to Watch in tech awards

BIRMINGHAM-based entrepreneur and former contestant on The Apprentice, Nick Holzherr, has been named ‘One to Watch in 2015’ at the Talent Unleashed Awards in London.

Holsherr is founder and CEO of tech start-up Whisk.com, which he pitched to Lord Sugar during the programme.

Whisk.com is a grocery shopping app that allows users to follow and shop recipes online with the likes of Tesco, Waitrose, Asda and Ocado. The company and Holzherr were named ‘One to Watch in 2015’, coming second only to Playmob, a firm that helps gaming companies raise funds for charity with its ‘in-game giving’ service.

As well as the covetable title, Whisk also took home £5,000 to put towards the recruitment fees for its growing Birmingham-based team, which currently stands at 16 members.

Speaking of the Talent Unleashed success, Mr. Holzherr said: “It’s great to be picked out from a list of people who have all achieved brilliant things. With further investment into the company, international expansion and new partnerships – it’s a hugely important time for Whisk.com.

“Since our first public presentation of Whisk.com two years ago to Lord Sugar in the final of The Apprentice, everyone’s been getting behind our platform. We’ve had some of the world’s largest brands, supermarkets and publishers all sign deals with us.”

Talent Unleashed, hosted by IT and recruitment company Talent International and WIRED, features illustrious entrepreneurs Sir Richard Branson and Steve Wozniakamongst its judges.

The awards are intended to shine a spotlight on digital ‘changemakers’ and whittles down thousands of entries to select a top five from which the various winners are chosen.
