Household appliance developer Vorwerk looks to create hundreds of new jobs

GLOBAL household appliance developer and manufacturer Vorwerk has said it plans  to create 250 new job opportunities across the West Midlands following a seven figure investment in developing its UK market and the opening of a branch in Balsall Common.

German-based Vorwerk, which manufactures household electrical items including vacuum cleaners and kitchen appliances, has begun raining newly recruited candidates at its 1,500 square foot office in Balsall Common.

Following a recent seven figure investment in developing its UK market, Vorwerk has established a UK Kobold Division and has launched a multi-channel recruitment campaign to bring on board further self-employed Sales Advisors and Team Leaders to sell its Kobold VK150 vacuum cleaner.

The direct sales company has seen significant growth in 2013 – in the firm’s 130th anniversary –  with the Italian Kobold market, reporting the highest sales totalling €498m, and other countries including France and Spain, reporting double digit growth.

Eric McClenaghan, the former Chief Executive and owner of the UK division of global direct selling cosmetics company Oriflame, will advise on the launch of the Vorwerk UK Kobold Division as it establishes its presence in Solihull and the surrounding areas.

He said: “Solihull is ideally located in the centre of the country with convenient access to Coventry and Birmingham as well as further afield, which was a driving force in our decision to base ourselves here.   We’re confident that our investment in the area and that our recruitment drive will generate interest from local people looking to work on a flexible hours basis with a successful global company.”

Vorwerk UK Kobold Division’s Balsall Common branch will be used as a base for the company to deliver sales training and ongoing development programmes to the Sales Advisors and Team Leaders across the UK. In line with its expansion, the company also has long term plans to open additional ‘satellite’ branches that will be run by Team Leaders in the wider area surrounding Birmingham.

McClenaghan added: “We want to establish a strong network of Sales Advisors and Team Leaders across the area that will be instrumental in helping us to grow the Vorwerk UK Kobold Division.  These people will be fully supported with highly specialised and regular training courses and will enjoy excellent earning potential.”

Alongside Vorwerk UK Kobold Division’s recruitment drive in and around Balsall Common, the company will also be opening a second office branch based in Surrey. This will form part of its plan to create 500 role opportunities across the two areas over the next five years, delivering a projected turnover in excess of £9m.
