80-year-old Birmingham entrepreneur sees snooker app gobbled up by Apple

A NEW phone app, developed and created by 80-year-old Birmingham entrepreneur Tom Elliott, has been taken up by Apple’s App Store.

The Erdington-based octogenarian developed the ‘Snooka’ phone app with support and help from Coventry University’s “Touch Digital” department.

The project received  funding from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

Gamers can access a tutorial to help them move from easy, to medium skill level, before then taking on the more challenging and difficult stages as they progress.

Elliott said: “I’m so excited and delighted to have my Snooka app on sale, something I could never have done without the help and support from everyone involved.

“Snooka is an engaging and challenging way of playing snooker on an iPad but without the need for a cue. It’s fiendishly good fun and totally compelling, with loads of different skill levels to master.

“There’s no need to struggle with snooker cues, angles, cushions or the like, one simply touches the screen to move the cue ball.”

Elliott paid tribute to, amongst others, Birmingham-based IT company Kamazoy for steering him through the IT maze

The serial game creator is now working on a range of other projects for launch in the near future.
