Innovation Birmingham outlines growth plan

INNOVATION Birmingham has outlined plans for its future development to enable it to become the hub of the city’s technology start-up sector.

Dr David Hardman, CEO of Innovation Birmingham, said everything was in place to ensure the site’s growth.

The expansion of the e4f mentoring scheme and the development of the new iCentrum facility would make the campus the first stop for new technology entrepreneurs, he said.

The campus has recently been awarded £355,000 of Enterprise Zone loan finance by the Greater Birmingham & Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership (GBSLEP).

The funding will enable the iCentrum building – which has recently been awarded planning approval – to incorporate a  4,500 sq ft mezzanine level above the ground floor.

iCentrum, which will be located next to Faraday Wharf and Aston University, off Holt Street, will be a 41,700 sq ft tech incubation facility.

It represents the first phase of expansion of the Birmingham City Council-owned Innovation Birmingham campus, which is currently fully let.
