Bullring braced for busy weekend

BIRMINGHAM’S flagship shopping centre, Bullring, is bracing itself for what promises to be one of its busiest weekends of the year.

Already the region’s most visited shopping centre, Bullring, saw more than 460,000 people pass through the mall last weekend as the countdown to Christmas continues.

Centre management said visitor numbers across Friday, Saturday and Sunday were very strong as shoppers looked to take advantage of festive offers being made by several retailers.

In addition, it said many people had been keen to check out recently-opened stores such as fashion retailers Victoria’s Secret and Ted Baker.

Michaela Moore, Bullring’s new general manager, said: “We’ve had a really strong start to December with high visitor numbers and the opening of several new stores including the much-awaited Victoria’s Secret. As we approach the final weekend before Christmas visitor numbers are building and we’re expecting a busy few days with some stores offering discounts and promotions pre-Christmas.”

Bestselling products at the centre have included personalised gifts from Selfridges, with more than 19,000 units of personalised Nutella jars being sold – ‘Emma’ and ‘James’ proving the most popular names.

Also proving a hit with shoppers is Disney’s Frozen, which has products stocked at a number of stores throughout the centre including Disney Store, The Entertainer, Build-A-Bear and Debenhams.
