Birmingham’s alternative Christmas market – Digmas – returns

BIRMINGHAM’S alternative Christmas fair, Digmas, returns to The Custard Factory tomorrow with this year’s line up set to be the biggest and best yet.

The event  champions Birmingham’s independent shopping experience, with a Christmas market selling unique gifts and crafts and exclusive discounts on offer at many of The Custard Factory’s 30 independent shops and cafes.

The event is intended to be different to the mainstream Christmas markets and is a celebration of the Birmingham and Digbeth’s creative, independent scene. Gifts will be on offer that cannot be found anywhere else.

In visiting, people will be supporting the city’s small, independent traders.

Digmas  features a festive programme with  Santa’s Grotto and real reindeer; a carousel; children’s face-painting and crafts; street food by the award-winning Digbeth Dining Club and a pop-up ‘get merry’ bar by Alfie Birds, Urban Village vintage fair.

The event begins at 12.30pm with a parade by Santa and his reindeer.

Activities and entertainment for includes a pop-up make-up bar by Make-Up Central, cupcake decorating, t-shirt printing, jewellery making and a rodeo reindeer.

The Digmas programme of live music includes traditional carol singing, the Roo Savill Trio, The Glamophones, Rich McMahon Folk and Clutching at Straws.

Digbeth Dining Club will be bringing along some of its most popular traders including The Meatshack, Esme’s Seafood Kitchen, Fat Duck Spuds, The Bournville Waffle Company and Vegan Grindhouse.

Digmas is the climax of the Custard Factory’s pre-Christmas programme of events.
