St Modwen puts in for planning to extend business park

BIRMINGHAM developer St Modwen has submitted a detailed planning application to extend Centurion Park in Tamworth.

Outline planning consent was granted in June 2014 to allow the 20 acre site to come forward for employment uses in order to build on the success of the existing adjacent units, which are let to a range of businesses.

Now St Modwen is progressing plans to create two new industrial buildings sized at 52,500sq ft to 157,000sq ft.

Midlands architect Roberts Limbrick has submitted designs on behalf of St Modwen for two speculative buildings with associated services, parking and offices.

With the benefit of consent, groundworks could begin as early as June to prepare the site for construction.

Jonathan Green, development surveyor at St Modwen, said: “Centurion Park is one of the most sought after locations in the Midlands region due to its superb transport links. Following a recent number of transactions, the scheme is fully occupied.

“This lack of stock, combined with a strengthening market has enabled us to accelerate plans for our extension of Centurion Park.

“We are already receiving calls from interested parties which will in turn trigger employment opportunities for light industrial, storage and distribution industries.”
