Birmingham motor dealers expands after £3.5m funding deal

A BIRMINGHAM car dealership group has relocated three of its showrooms to a larger flagship site after securing a new seven figure funding deal.

Collier Motor Group had outgrown its previous Honda, Mazda and Land Rover dealerships, and identified a new six acre site on Tyburn Road in Erdington.

After approaching Lloyds Bank for help it has secured a £3.5m funding package which has seen the business create 15 new jobs.

Collectively known as Colliers Quarter, the Land Rover dealership is a purpose-built facility and one of the first in the country to offer its customers an undercover drive-in reception when their cars are brought in for servicing.

Also located at the new site are the Mazda and Honda dealerships, which both feature seven-bay service centres alongside showroom and used car spaces to display the latest vehicles on offer.

The family-run business, established in 1926, switched its day-to-day banking facilities to Lloyds Bank to secure the funding to relocate from its old premises on Sutton Road, Erdington, to cater to growing customer demand for its services. All of the three dealerships are now open for business.

David Clark, Group Chief Executive at Colliers Motor Group said: “Following strong growth in recent years with a considerable uplift in the number of visitors across all of our dealerships, we needed to find a new site that could provide us with the space to develop our business and provide an improved level of service to our customers with easier access, more customer parking spaces and better facilities.

“Colliers Quarter is a fantastic facility, and we have three purpose designed showrooms for Land Rover, Mazda and Honda.  The Land Rover dealership incorporates state-of-the-art features such as the exclusive indoor drive through service for Land Rover customers, and it’s thanks to the support of Lloyds Bank that the business has been able to expand in this way.”

Richard Smith, Relationship Director at Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking, said: “With the increased footfall that the business was experiencing it was the right time to accelerate its growth plans and move to a modern new dealership in a central location.

“The expansion has also enabled the business to create 15 new job opportunities, which is great news for the local economy, and we’re looking forward to building on this new relationship with the business as it continues to provide a valued and efficient service to its customers.”
