St Modwen green-lighted on two Midlands housing schemes

BIRMINGHAM-based developer St Modwen has been given the all clear to build houses on two of its schemes in the region.

It is set to build up to 550 more family homes and a primary school at its Meon Vale scheme near Stratford-upon-Avon, after being given the go ahead by councillors on Stratford District Council Planning Committee and has also received the green light to deliver 132 new homes on land off Stanley Matthews Way in Stoke-on-Trent.

The next stage of development at Meon Vale will include highway improvements and the relocation of the holiday village, which is set to comprise 300 self-catering lodges and holiday homes and 80 caravan pitches, to the north west of the site.

This phase will also include 192 affordable homes to cater for local need.

Built on a former MoD site, Meon Vale is already up and running. More than 100 new homes are now complete and occupied on the site with another 100 to be completed over the next year.

A public square and village hall, the Meon Vale Leisure Centre, a convenience store, a children’s play area and skate park have all been delivered as part of the first phase.

Meanwhile, the firm has also been given planning consent to deliver homes on land off Stanley Matthews Way in Stoke-on-Trent.

Construction will begin later this spring.

The site, which will be named Trentham Manor, represents St. Modwen Homes’ first residential development in Trentham and this first phase will deliver a range of one, two, three, four and five bedroom properties with a range of terraced, semi-detached and detached house styles
