IoD to provide director training in West Midlands

THE Institute of Directors (IoD) has announced it will start running its chartered director training and development courses in Birmingham this summer.

The decision by the business organisation follows the move by the IoD’s West Midlands’ regional hub, which represents 2,000 local business executives, into the Library of Birmingham where the training courses will also be held.

The IoD’s director development courses are designed to provide leadership training for senior executives, providing the skills, knowledge and understanding essential for successfully directing an organisation from a strategic perspective and from the director’s viewpoint.

They are led by business experts with outstanding training credentials; the first course on the role of the director will be held in June.

Jason Wouhra, West Midlands IoD chairman, and himself a qualified chartered director, said: “The IoD is one of the few providers of director level training and qualifications in the country and it will be fantastic for local business leaders to be able to access these so readily.

“The courses are specifically set up to train directors to be stewards of, and effectively direct, their organisations as well as encourage board and director improvement, which qualifications, such as MBAs are less focused on.”
