HCB expands footprint with brace of southern acquisitions

SOLIHULL law firm, HCB Solicitors and Chartered Accountants has expanded its geographical footprint once again by acquiring two Luton legal firms.

HCB has expanded its network by taking over Stephens Wheeler Cooke & Sons and Bernard and Tomlin Solicitors. The terms of the deals have not been disclosed.

HCB already boasts more than 23 offices from the north-west to the south-east and the latest two acquisitions stretch its M1 links from Northampton and Bedford to its London operations.

With the additional staff, the total number of lawyers and chartered accountants in the team now exceeds 300.

The group favours the joined-up approach because it believes it offers a better legal and accounting service.

Mike Gahan, chief executive of HCB Group, said: “Both Stephens Wheeler Cooke & Sons and  Bernard and Tomlin fit well into the HCB Solicitors and Chartered Accountants ethos and we will be working to expand the legal and accounting services we can provide into the Luton market.

“Luton clients will not only be able to access all aspects of legal advice through our countrywide experts but also accountancy advice through HCB Chartered Accountants – a service that completes a unique one-stop professional services operation.

“This latest merger means that more people can take advantage of the concept around which we have built the national HCB network.”
