Wragges celebrates big pension client win

BIRMINGHAM law firm Wragge Lawrence Graham & Co’s pensions team has been appointed as the main legal adviser to the trustees of the £76,875,000 Fujitsu (FTS) Pension Scheme.

The appointment puts a further pension arrangement operated by the UK subsidiary of Japanese listed-company Fujitsu under the legal guidance of Wragges.

Partner Jason Coates led the team, supported by associate Jane Blackwood and solicitor Eley Baynes.

The team will work closely with the chairman to the trustees, Robbie Mair, and secretary to the trustees, Katherine Milton, to advise on the legal aspects of all pensions issues.

The Fujitsu (FTS) Pension Scheme has a defined benefit section and defined contribution section and so will need to respond to recent changes in the law affecting both types of arrangement.

Coates said: “Our practice brings together a team of pensions experts with a strong track record of providing clear and commercially-focused advice. We are looking forward to providing a quality service to the trustees of another Fujitsu pension arrangement.”

Mair, at the Fujitsu (FTS) Pension Scheme, said: “We are very pleased to be working with the Wragge Lawrence Graham & Co team. We like their approach and style and feel it fits well with us.”

Wragge Lawrence Graham & Co also advises the trustees of the £120m Fujitsu Comparable Pension Scheme, which has operated as a pension vehicle for public sector employees joining Fujitsu under TUPE regulations and, in June 2010, was appointed as sole legal adviser to the £3bn ICL Group Pension Plan of Fujitsu Services and the Fujitsu Services Common Investment Fund.
