Final chance to sign up for our ‘Getting To Grips With The New Government’ event

FOR the West Midlands business community there is a need to understand what the new government is planning across a broad range of issues – everything from business rates to devolution by way of infrastructure spending and the future of the public sector.

At our post-election panel-led discussion next Tuesday (June 2) we aim to look at the new Government’s priorities and what we can expect as a region and as individual businesses.

The Government has included a devolution bill in the Queen’s Speech but what will it mean for the West Midlands where the option to elect a mayor – a pre-requisite of power being handed down to the region – has already been rejected?

And can we expect investment to help our manufacturing businesses in areas such as apprenticeships/skills trading and trading overseas?

Also, what of its plans to hold an in/out referendum on EU membership? Can Midlands business take any positives from this?

Confirmed panelists for the event – chaired by TheBusinessDesk.com editor Andy Coyne – are Ninder Johal, president of the Black Country Chamber of Commerce and a board member of the Black Country Local Enterprise partnership, Michael Henson, associate director – local government at project and cost management business Turner & Townsend, Eric Williams, a partner at accountancy and advisory firm Mazars and Adam Kendall, a partner at law firm Bevan Brittan.

The event takes place at CBRE’s headquarters at 55 Temple Row in central Birmingham at 4pm for a 4.30pm start.

If you would like to be in the audience – and have a chance to put your point across or ask a question on the issues mentioned or another – email gurmukh.bhurjee@thebusinessdesk.com

Numbers are limited so places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Sponsors of the event are Mazars and Bevan Brittan.
