Universities collaborate on a new postgraduate partnership

ASTON University and Cranfield University are to collaborate on a new postgraduate partnership launched to create higher education opportunities in the business, management and engineering sectors.
 
The collaboration will include postgraduate scholarships and joint research opportunities. There are also plans to develop new degree programmes and shared access to specialist research assets.
 
Sir Peter Gregson, chief executive and vice-chancellor of Cranfield, said: “We are delighted to have agreed this collaboration with Aston University.  As two internationally-acclaimed universities with a shared focus on the needs of business and government, it’s an excellent opportunity for us to play to our strengths on a range of complementary activities.”
 
Professor Dame Julia King, vice-chancellor of Aston University, said: “This is a partnership of the like-minded.  Aston and Cranfield are both ambitious, energetic universities, set on developing the leaders of tomorrow in business and the professions, and translating research into economic growth.  Working together will create exciting opportunities for students, collaborators and staff.”
 
Together, Aston and Cranfield offer complementary strengths in engineering and management.  
 
Both universities also have strong links with business.  Aston has particular expertise in entrepreneurship and enterprise, working with SMEs, and aiding small business growth. Cranfield has relationships with over 1,500 businesses in 40 countries and has a strong focus on practical, applied research for industry at postgraduate level. 

Aston has a strong focus on employability and social mobility and has been a leading university for graduate employment success for over 25 years.
