Rigby subsidiary plans new manufacturing and distribution hub at Coventry Airport

THREE West Midlands commercial property agents have been appointed to a new scheme which could bring more than 600 jobs to the region.

Ostrava Properties, a newly-formed company within the Rigby Group, has announced plans to create a new manufacturing and distribution hub on 30 acres of land at Coventry Airport.

An application to create the 650,000sq ft development on the former passenger waiting area has been submitted to Warwick District Council and is expected to be heard in October.

Ostrava, which was formed to bring the development – in up to four units, ranging in size from 75,000sq ft to 650,000sq ft – to fruition has appointed Colliers International, D&P Holt and DTZ to market the site.

Simon Norton, of Colliers International, said: “We are seeing great demand from company’s looking for well-connected, quality accommodation in well-established distribution locations across the UK.

“The plans for this key site within Middlemarch Business Park respond to this demand, creating high quality space, in the UK’s manufacturing and distribution engine room.”

Peter Holt, of D&P Holt, said: “This is a key scheme in the Coventry and Warwickshire area and its development would help to build on what is already a thriving commercial and industrial location.

“Coventry has experienced great demand in the industrial and distribution sectors over the past two years and there has been a shortage of development land in more recent times. This site will help meet that need and allow the local economy to continue its growth. I am confident there will be strong interest from in and outside Coventry and Warwickshire.”

John Sambrooks, of DTZ, said: “We are delighted to be involved in this major new development. The scheme comes at a time of unparalleled demand for new manufacturing and distribution development in the region and we look forward to delivering the project and meeting the needs of the market.”

“The upgrading of local infrastructure, together with access to a large population will both add to the success of the scheme.”
