Lichfield waste sector firm goes into administration

PLASTICS sorting and trading business What-A-Waste has gone into administration.

The Fradley company was established in 2006 by Chris Smith. It sorted and sold mixed plastic polystyrene, polypropylene and polyethylene, handling in excess of 20,000 tonnes of material per year.

Paul Goddard and Carl Stuart Jackson of restructuring and insolvency specialist Quantuma have been appointed to oversee the administration of the firm.

Much of What-A-Waste’s business had involved trading in the Far East and it has been suggested it was affected by the slowdown in the Chinese economy.

What-A-Waste was placed into administration on August 18.
