Board changes at Meggitt

AEROSPACE supplier Meggitt has outlined a series of board changes.

The first will see David Williams, who has been a Non-Executive Director since 2006 and is chairman of the Audit Committee and Senior Independent Director, retire from the board on December 31, 2015.

Paul Heiden, who joined the board as an independent NED in 2010, will succeed Williams as the Senior Independent Director with effect from January 1, 2016.

Finally, Colin Day has been appointed as an independent NED and will assume the role of chairman of the Audit Committee with immediate effect.

Day, a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, is CEO of Essentra, a position he has held since April 1, 2011. Prior to this, he was Chief Financial Officer of Reckitt Benckiser Group from 2000 to 2011. Between 1995 and 2000, he served as Group Finance Director of Aegis Group and previously held a number of senior financial positions at other companies.

Sir Nigel Rudd, Meggitt, chairman, said: “On behalf of the board I would like to thank David Williams for the part he has played on the board of directors since 2006 and particularly for the significant contribution he has made in his role as chairman of the Audit Committee and Senior Independent Director. I am sure Paul will make an excellent successor for David as Senior Independent Director.

“I am also delighted to welcome Colin on to the board of Meggitt.  He brings significant commercial and financial expertise and in total, has more than 25 years of experience at blue chip companies including non-executive positions across a range of industries. I am confident he will be a great addition to the board.”
