Work under way on new home for Michelin-starred Adam’s Restaurant

ONE of Birmingham’s five Michelin-starred restaurants is aiming to be in situ in its new home early in the New Year after work started on getting the venue ready.

Adam’s Restaurant, which has operated as a ‘pop-up’ for two-and-a-half years in Bennett’s Hill in the city centre, is moving just round the corner to New Oxford House, 16 Waterloo Street, overlooking Victoria Square.

During its time in Birmingham, chef-patron Adam Stokes and his team have won a string of accolades including a Michelin star, three AA Rosettes and a placing in the list of the UK’s top 30 restaurants.

The aim is to open the new restaurant in the third week of January.

It will be a 35-seater – similar in size of Adam’s current location – but will also boast a 16-seater private dining room.

A chef’s table will be added in the kitchen soon after opening to accommodate individual diners and parties.

Stokes said: “There will be a change to the menu formats too. We will offer a great value lunch menu and a tasting menu, with the addition of an a la carte option.

“There will also be a bespoke tasting menu for the chefs table.

“The whole restaurant will be a facility that we will be extremely proud of and hope Birmingham will be proud of it too.”

The restaurant will also house a development kitchen and wine room.

Adam’s will continue to operate in Bennett’s Hill until work on the new premises is completed.

Stokes began his kitchen career at renowned Hambleton Hall, Leicestershire, under Aaron Patterson.

After seven years, achieving the role of sous chef, he left in 2008 to become head chef at Glenapp Castle in the lowlands of southwest Scotland, aged just 26.

In the five years he stayed in Scotland, he secured a fourth AA rosette and his first Michelin star, only a few days before his 30th birthday.

He moved to Birmingham to open his own restaurant in 2013 and the new venture gained a Michelin star only six months after opening.
