New 70,000 sq ft Birmingham facility for logistics firm

A BIRMINGHAM logistics company has expanded its business with the acquisition of a detached 70,000 sq ft warehouse in its home city.

PGS Global Logistics has already taken on new staff on the back of the property deal.

Its new facility is at Fortnum Close in Kitts Green. The sum PGS paid for it is undisclosed.

PGS Global Logistics was established by MD Paul Eyles 25 years ago and has grown significantly since.

On the back of acquiring the additional warehouse, PGS has added 24 new staff to its workforce. This brings their current head count to 168.

PGS now operates two large warehouses in east Birmingham, which are located almost side by side. It also has depots in Droitwich and Dudley.

David Bayliss, commercial director at the firm, said: “Having experienced considerable growth in recent years, we decided to invest heavily in our workforce, equipment and facilities to ensure that we continue to provide a best in class service for our diverse client base.

“Our new warehouse at Fortnum Close has enabled us to expand very quickly and more importantly from our customers’ point of view, seamlessly.

“The investment will ensure that our target to become a £20m turnover company will now be achieved within three years.”

PGS Global Logistics provides parcel and pallet delivery services for a range of clients including those concerned with large scale haulage.

Darby Keye Property and Colliers International acted for the vendor of the warehouse that PGS Global Logistics has acquired.
