JLR to back Invictus Games again

WEST Midlands automotive giant Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) is sponsoring the UK team at the 2016 Invictus Games.

Trials for the UK team have started for the event for wounded, injured and sick serving personnel and veterans.

JLR will provide financial and logistical support via a fleet of vehicles, while the UK team will wear the company’s brand on its competition kit.

The company supported the inaugural 2014 event in London.

The Invictus Games is due to take place for the second time from May 8-12 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida.

The games use the power of sport to inspire recovery, support rehabilitation and generate a wider understanding and respect for wounded, injured and sick Servicemen and women.

JLR has hired more than 200 former servicemen and women since 2013. The company’s initiatives to boost employment for those leaving the Armed Forces include a work placement programme run in conjunction with Mission Motorsport and the Ministry of Defence’s Career Transition Partnership to help wounded, injured and sick former service personnel find a fulfilling second career.

The firm’s UK managing director Jeremy Hicks said: “As a proud British brand, Jaguar Land Rover UK is delighted to be supporting the UK Team and continuing our long-standing relationship with many of the competitors.

“We also look forward to forming new relationships and supporting those who are using the power of sport to help their recovery.”
