Thomas Cook expands flights from Birmingham Airport

HOLIDAY airline Thomas Cook has expanded its provision at Birmingham Airport by announcing it is to base a further aircraft at the hub.

Thomas Cook Airlines will base an extra new Airbus A321 aircraft at the airport to support its newly launched winter 2016 programme.

The extra service provision will mean a further 30,000 seats will be available from Birmingham during the winter programme.

Gambia, which has proved a popular destination this year, will go up from one flight per week to two, while flights to Tenerife will increase from one to four per week. Additionally, Lanzarote will move from two to three weekly flights; and Gran Canaria is new with one flight per week.

William Pearson, Aviation Development Director at Birmingham Airport, said: “This is great news and shows just how successful Thomas Cook is here at Birmingham Airport. The airline offer routes which are extremely popular with our passengers and demand for seats is continuing to increase.

“As an airport we look forward to welcoming the extra 30,000 passengers that this news aircraft will bring.”

Henry Sunley, Thomas Cook Airlines’ director of sales and planning, added: “We’re so proud to have one of our newest A321s based permanently at Birmingham this winter.”
