Second successive night of misery for West Midlands motorists

MOTORISTS in the West Midlands face their second day of rush-hour misery after more delays on the region’s motorway network.

Highways England has warned drivers using the M5 in Worcestershire that the northbound stretch of carriageway between Junction 5 at Droitwich and Junction 4a, the connection for the M42, is currently closed due to on-going gantry removal works.

The problem has affected the section of road all days and caused severe delays in the area.

Highways England said: “Road users are advised to exit at J5 and follow the signed diversion. Please also leave plenty of extra time to travel and consider taking alternative routes where possible.”

It has been a tough few days for the region’s road network following the closure of the M6 in Birmingham yesterday that caused massive problems for drivers travelling through and around the city.
