Fleet Street Kitchen announces expansion plans

BIRMINGHAM eatery Fleet Street Kitchen has announced plans to open two more branches in the West Midlands.

The restaurant – based, not surprisingly, in Fleet Street on the edge of Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter – is to launch to three more Fleet Street Kitchens in 2016 – in Leamington Spa, Mere Green (Sutton Coldfield) and outside the region in Lincoln.

Run by Town & Country Inns, the Birmingham restaurant is now three years old.

Managing director Mark Jones, said: “If you are persistent you  can achieve anything. If you are consistent, you’ll keep it.

“Excellence is not an act, it’s a habit.”

Fleet Street Kitchen is currently ranked at 37 on TripAdvisor, out of 1,804  registered venues.

PR firm launches specialist food division

LOCAL public relations consultancy Liquid has launched a full service specialist food and drink division, Liquid Lunch.

In addition to PR, marketing and design, Liquid Lunch will offer a menu of complementary services, including staff training, budgeting and menu creation.

The Liquid Lunch team, which is headed up by senior account manager Jon Perks,  includes food consultants David Colcombe and Richard McComb.

Colcombe – formerly chef director at Birmingham’s Opus restaurant group – is a member of the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts and the British Culinary Federation, as well as an honorary fellow and visiting professor at University College Birmingham.

A former assistant editor of the Birmingham Post, McComb is a former winner of the Guild of Food Writers’ Michael Smith Award for Work on British Food.

Elisabeth Lewis-Jones, CEO of Birmingham-based Liquid, said: “We’re passionate about food and drink – it’s our favourite topic of conversation. We work with a broad range of food clients, from artisan producers to national trade bodies, and wanted to combine that expertise with the passion and knowledge of David and Richard.”

New Edgbaston venue for Miller & Carter

RESTAURANT chain Miller & Carter is to open a new venue in Birmingham, creating 40 new jobs for the local area.

The Hagley Road site, which is currently the Cock & Magpies Harvester, is due to open on February 28 following an extensive refurbishment.

The new Miller & Carter will be the second Birmingham site for the steakhouse brand run by local pubco Mitchells & Butlers. The group already has a restaurant in the Mailbox.

Andy Beesley, general manager at Miller & Carter, said: “Bringing a new Miller & Carter to Birmingham is extremely exciting for the brand and the new restaurant will offer the best steaks and service that Miller & Carter is renowned for across the UK.

“The team is gearing up to start welcoming guests from the end of February and can’t wait to reveal our fabulous new look restaurant. Everyone who works here is completely obsessed with steak and we would encourage anyone who hasn’t been to the Miller & Carter to come and find out what we’re all about.”
