Record February for Jaguar Land Rover

VEHICLE manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover saw record global sales last month, with strong demand for both brands.

The company sold 37,494 vehicles, up 31% on February 2015.

The company also sold 83,510 vehicles in the first two months of 2016, a 27% increase on the same period in the prior year.

Retail sales for February were up year-on-year across all regions: 84% in the UK, 52% in Europe, 27% in North America, and 14% in China.  Other Overseas markets were up 13% year-on-year.

Andy Goss, Jaguar Land Rover Group Sales Operations Director said:  “We started the year with a record January and have followed this up with another historic month of sales, thanks in large part to the performance of the UK and European markets and continued customer demand for the XE and Discovery Sport.”

Marking its best February yet, Land Rover retailed 30,756 vehicles in the month, up 27% year-on-year. Best-sellers for the month were the Discovery Sport, retailing 7,857 vehicles, the Range Rover Sport, retailing 6,418 vehicles and the Range Rover, with retails of 4,328 in the month. Calendar year-to-date sales for Land Rover reached 68,831 vehicles, 23% up on the prior year.

Jaguar had its best February performance in over a decade, delivering 6,738 vehicles, up 50% on the previous year, due to continued solid sales of the XE (2,639 vehicles) and the all-new XF (2,444 vehicles).

Europe and the UK recorded outstanding year-on-year growth of 211% and 159%, respectively and sales to Other Overseas markets were also up, 31% year-on-year. Calendar year-to-date sales for Jaguar were 14,679, up 47% year-on-year.
