Residential conversion plans for Lichfield office scheme

AN office block close to the centre of Lichfield is set to be converted into flats under a scheme proposed by its new owner.

Residential property developer Uvee purchased Lombard Court in an undisclosed deal brokered by Cushman & Wakefield.

Lombard Court, in Lombard Street, has a Grade II-listed frontage behind which is a modern office development of 9,506 sq ft. It is the latter which is set for conversion.

Uvee specialises in developing affordable rented properties for young professional tenants. It devises schemes aimed at tacking the spiralling cost of living in London and other cities.

Lombard Court was previously owned by Wesleyan, and all of those who bid for it were developers. Joint agent on the deal was Lichfield-based Kingstons.

David Rigby, associate director of Cushman & Wakefield’s Birmingham-based office agency, said Lichfield was an increasingly popular location for young professionals.

He said: “Following a competitive bidding process the property was sold to a developer who is looking to convert the offices in to residential flats. There was a lot of interest in the property, with all of the interested parties being developers.”

Uvee’s Nick Sellman said: “Uvee are excited to be moving into a vibrant property market in Lichfield. Lombard Court is an excellent prospect for residential conversion and our scheme has put a real emphasis on the preservation of the historic nature of the building.”

At the front of Lombard House, which was redeveloped into its present configuration a few years ago, is a small shop, currently let to Digital Dragon Games. There is also a car park with 25 spaces.
