5 signs you probably deserve the sack

Whether we admit it or not, there is evidence to suggest that as a nation we’re not working quite as hard as we did last year.

Here’s how to tell you have too much time on your hands and could be heading for a serious telling off.

1. You’ve scrolled past the same Facebook post, thrice

If you’ve done this, outside of your lunch hour of course, you really should be asking yourself if you deserve to be employed at all. This also applies to those of you who are over-familiar with the top ‘news’ stories on The Sun or Daily Mail. Employers have sneaky ways to find out what you’ve been looking at and believe me, they will catch you.

2. You’re cold

If you’re sat at your desk in April and you’re freezing cold, well rightly so, you are living in Britain. When your arm is raised with goose pimples in July and Bob is sweating away next to you, you should really question your current work ethic as you’re not even working hard enough to generate heat. Type faster!

3. Tweeting/ Instagramming

Time wasters love to do a bit of instagramming during the mid-afternoon slump. Not only will this distract you for the time taken to choose the right filter but if, like you your followers are also slackers, you may be distracted further from the comments and likes rolling in.

Hiding your phone under your desk is almost more obvious than being blatant.

4. You go missing

Going for a wander to reply to a Whatsapp message or check your Match.com inbox is hardly going to get you that promotion you’ve been after.

Unless you’re taking time out to Snapchat your workplace and show off the brand, toilets should only really be for one of two things. Especially avoid posting the selfie if your boss is one of your stalkers, I mean followers.

5. Taking time off

If outright skiving doesn’t make you feel guilty, taking time off to have your broken nail fixed definitely should. If you’re not careful on social media, bosses will find out if you’ve gone out on the lash on a school night. Particularly bitter colleagues may even grass you up.

So in order to get that promotion or at least prevent the inevitable dismissal, avoid pressing the front camera, filtering a photo of your breakfast or shivering in summer.
