Birmingham shopping centre bullish after top award

BIRMINGHAM’S Bullring shopping centre has landed a major international award for its design and sustainability.

The centre, immediately identifiable because of its iconic Selfridges anchor, was crowned Best Established Centre at this year’s International Council of Shopping Centres (ICSC) awards in Milan.

The judging criteria for the award covered a variety of areas and in additional to  design and sustainability, included operations, car parking and customer service.

Michaela Moore, General Manager at Bullring, said: “We are thrilled to have been named the winner of the Best Established Centre award at the prestigious ICSC awards.

“It’s an incredible achievement for the Bullring and the work that the team here do, and firmly puts Birmingham on the map as the ultimate retail destination.”

The award also helps to cement the centre’s place in Birmingham’s retail hierarchy, which has been challenged of late by the new kids Grand Central and the refurbished Mailbox.
