Why chocoholics are more productive

You’ll love chocolate even more once you hear about the effect it has on productivity. Whilst there’s no proof that sitting down and continuously scoffing treats all day is good for your work ethic, a study has proven that moderate consumption of chocolate can improve productivity.

The economists at Warwick University proved that happiness – which is obviously caused by chocolate – boosts productivity by 12%.

As well as chocolate, watching a comedy sketch and eating fruit helped to increase staff’s productivity. So perhaps including these three things in your lunch break isn’t such a bad idea.

There is also research to suggest that a particular shade of chocolate can make for better work days. Dark chocolate makes you more alert and attentive which can only be a benefit at work.

However, this type is best consumed in moderation as it can raise your blood pressure.

Unsurprisingly, talking about a family tragedy was said to reduce productivity in the workplace. So there may be some benefits in either staying home or keeping to yourself after a tragedy.

The research suggests that handing out chocolate may be one way to make staff happy and reward them for quality work.
