Travel Alert: Rail passengers warned of serious delays

Update: 6pm

The issue, in which a man was electrocuted, has now been dealt with and all services have returned to normal.

RAIL passengers planning to travel between Birmingham New Street and Norwich are being warned of delays to their journeys of anything up to an hour.

East Midlands Trains said the problem was due to ‘trespassers’ on the line at Grantham.

The train operator said on its website: “A trespass incident at Grantham is causing delays of up to 60 minutes to trains through the station. This is expected to continue until approximately 17:00.”

Passengers travelling on the service have been advised to check before they board their trains.
