GRANT Thornton has boosted its wealth advisory team in Birmingham with the appointment of Maxine Wilkie.

Ms Wilkie has 20 years’ experience in financial services, joining Grant Thornton after six years with independent financial adviser LEBC.

She is a specialist in retirement planning and has also worked closely with a number of law firms in Birmingham and the wider West Midlands on divorce-related pensions matters. Her new role will involve advising Grant Thornton clients across the Midlands on the full range of pensions, savings and investments as well as inheritance tax planning.

Jonathan Neale, who leads the wealth advisory team at Grant Thornton in Birmingham, said: “Grant Thornton’s wealth advisory revenues in Birmingham have increased over recent years and Maxine’s appointment allows us to build on and develop that growth even further. INTERNATIONAL law firm Trowers & Hamlins has appointed a partner in its Birmingham property litigation team.

David Marsden was head of property litigation at the Cheltenham office of Charles Russell. He advises investors, landlords, public sector bodies and occupiers on a broad range of complex property law including right to light, dilapidation, property insolvency, lease renewals and forfeiture.

JLT SPECIALTY’S financial lines group has appointed Nam Qureshi from Aon, to strengthen its regional solicitors professional indemnity (PI) team.

He will be based in Birmingham and will join JLT in May 2016, subject to fulfillment of his contractual obligations. JLT Specialty now looks after more than 1,200 law firms in England and Wales.
