Machining group buys firm after death of founder

A PRECISION machining group has taken over a Wednesfield business whose founder died last September.

Dudley-based Machined Fabrications has brought Askey Precision Engineering into its group after the death of Colin Askey last September.

Matthew Wild, group managing director at Machined Fabrications, said: “The Askey business has provided a first class service to its customers for over twenty years and we are delighted to have this company as part of our group.”

The addition of Askey to the group increases its range of manufacturing capacity in particular for smaller precision milled and turned components.

The group can now produce a range of parts, with small CNC milled and turned parts produced at Askey Precision Engineering, large precision machined parts at Ufone Precision Engineers in Dudley, and large and heavy CNC machining at Adelaide Engineering in Heywood, Lancashire.

Askey employs 12 people at its 10,000 sq ft premises, providing sub-contract machining capacity, jig and fixtures amongst others to the aerospace, defence and automotive sectors.
